The island looks great; all green, the club house all painted inside and out and the water level seems ok, not too high, not too low, but ok.

Please stop by Endeavor to pick up your roster and membership cards. Rhonda or I will be passing them out. They are beautiful thanks to the talents of roster Editor – Brittany Bania, Database Chairman – Joe Ternullo, cover photo by Dick Bania and Joe Schaden. Please try to patronize all our roster advertisers; they help defray the cost of our roster.

Take some time to review the entertainment schedule for this season; volunteer where you feel comfortable, David and Amy Schaden will appreciate your help. Also note the new items on the calendar especially the Mates Boat Handling weekend. We would like to see all the non-boat driver spouses participate.

Talk to Martha Warnars, Grounds and Maintenance Chair, she can find a job for any skill set, just ask... and bring a friend; many hands make light work. See Carl Beltz about dinghy wells this year; he will be keeping order in the harbor this season. Take a moment to say hi to our caretaker, John Space, he works hard for us all summer.

Have a nice summer.

By the time you read this, the island will be open. We all look forward to another season full of fun events and camaraderie. Be sure to make plans for the Memorial Day weekend and include your boating friends who are not yet members of our club to join you. Make a weekend out of it, show them what they are missing and show them what they could be a part of. As of the last board of directors meeting our membership was at 191. We have 9 openings before we have a waiting list, a payment plan for initiation, a beautiful facility and fun events all season long. If you can get them here, the place will sell itself. Just reserve a spot for your friends by calling a
fleet captain or me, I’ll hook you up.

The 2008 Roster is in printing now and will be distributed in the month of May. We will be distributing the Roster from our boat, Endeavor, through the month then will mail the rest. Extra copies will be available from the Island Store. The Roster is indexed by member name, boat name, child’s name, child’s parent’s boat, by year joined, etc. When someone pulls in the harbor, you can generally identify the member. Take some time on a rainy day to review its contents; it has history, rules, flags, and other great information. Inside the cover a few pages are the members who have stepped up and volunteered to chair events throughout the year. Please thank them for their effort at a minimum, volunteer to help if you like, see me if you need coaxing, I’ll team you up with an “old pro” to ease you into it. I guarantee you will be happy you did.

See David and Amy Lynn Schaden for Entertainment events on the “new” Amy Lynn, East Harbor.
See Martha Warnars for Grounds and Maintenance projects on Kaleidoscope, West Harbor
See Carl Beltz for Dinghy Wells on Cross My Heart, West Harbor
See me, Doug Kern on Endeavor, Any Harbor, for all other inquiries.
Thank-you Brittany Bania, Roster Editor for the beautiful Roster.
Thank-you Joe Ternullo, Database Manager for keeping all the membership information up to date.
Thank-you Maria Danckaert and Roberta Reblin for the new “stuff” in the island store.

Enjoy the new season at your Club Island.
